TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN
I was given your e-mail address by my colleague, Petr Kodl. I understand
that you are a group of seasoned Python Scripting users/experts, who
also provide training courses on this subject. Please confirm this and
indicate whether you have standard or other course offerings along with
some initial comments on any business arrangements (pricing,
availability, etc.).
We have just sold our turbomachinery software to a company in the
Ukraine. Within our software group, several of our engineers are quite
experienced with Python scripting and they have applied it to create
small programs that interact with our codes. Some of these samples were
briefly illustrated when this Ukrainian company came to our plant in
Wilder (near White River Junction in Vermont) for training on our
codes. This client has requested basic Python training for 2 to 5
(probably 4 to 5) of their software engineers in the April/May
timeframe. We are looking for you to provide basic and some general
application Python training, to be followed by Concepts NREC giving
training on sample scripting programs we prepared to work with our codes
and how we prepared such programs (the approach, steps, etc.). Both
after the basic training (given by you) and our specific application
training, the client wishes to work on some sample cases in order to
refine their understanding and increase their skills. We assume that any
training will consist of Power Point presentations and hands on work
with PCs using the Python "codes" (note our engineers use version
2.4.3.11 and would prefer to keep using that version for the moment). An
hand our book with the PPts and any other background materials would be
expected.
The attendees do not speak English, so this client will supply a
technical translator for any training sessions. Necessarily, this means
that any training sessions will likely be twice as long as any
comparable course given in English alone. Another factor is that the
attendees will have general programming qualifications and experience,
but none will likely have been exposed at all to Python scripting.
Based on the above factors, I see a first pass training course outline
consisting of the following;
WEEK #1
1) 3 days of basic training and general application examples (hands
on) by "Python-Talk".
2) 2 days of application training and several examples by Concepts
NREC.
WEEK #2
Continued clients exercises with intermittent and limited advice/help by
both Python-Talk and Concepts NREC. My guess is that it may require
someone from Python-Talk to be here for half days on 2 separate days
(say Tuesday/Thursday) maximum.
Given these requests and input, please confirm you willingness to
provide the required training and provide any pertinent technical and
business responses and background. Please call me at 1-802-280-6128, if
needed at any point.
Regards Colin Osborne,
Chief Engineer, Concepts NREC
