Bill one of the benefits of Google Spreadsheet is the collaborative nature
so that you don't have to make changes, save, e-mail to someone, have them
open, make changes and send back..

The file stays put and people just open and change it.

To a certain extent risk can be reduced (both to data integrity and to
confidentiality) if the file stays put.

Can somebody describe the benefits of editing a spreadsheet in a web
browser? Is it just the ease of not having to save the file to a
folder?

Besides WebDAV, you could probably accomplish something similar with
a file://path/to/file.xls URL to a NFS share.

Is it live multi-user editing of the same document?

Note: last time I looked in SBS all users had the same permissions
(everything was 777 in unix parlance), which is a factor for many
businesses under HIPAA or SarBox.
