Hi everyone,
I just wanted to share this info with you all...
Yumex only offered me Firefox version 1.0.8 for my FC 4 system.
I was able to download version 1.5.0.5 directly from mozilla.com; however...
I seemed to be missing "libstdc++.so.5".
Those pesky library files are just so important for our favorite programs.
At first, I realized that I had "libstdc++.so.6" so I tried creating a symbolic link from "libstdc++.so.5" to "libstdc++.so.6".
FC 4 was not impressed with my makeshift solution.
So...
I removed the symbolic link and
I had to download the file "compat-libstdc++-33-3.2.3-47.fc4.i386.rpm" in order to get the "libstdc++.so.5" file.
Having that file allowed me to launch FF 1.5.0.5 .
I tried looking on yumex for the libraries that I needed, but it was going to take two hours to download them.
I looked on Google and found the exact library package on rpmfind.
So, now I'm using the latest and greatest from mozilla. I had to do a little extra work, but that's okay. :-)
Thanks for the challenge Anne. lol...
